Meet Ellen Stewart, DDS, MS

I’m Dr. Ellen Stewart, a prosthodontist passionate about restoring oral health, function, and confidence through personalized, high-quality care. I was a biomedical engineer prior to dentistry, and now love my role as an “engineer” of the mouth through my advanced training in implant dentistry, full-mouth reconstruction, esthetic dentistry, and complex restorative treatment. As part of your healthcare team, I strive to ensure my patients are well-informed of their oral health needs and comfortable at each step of the treatment journey. While the dental chair may not be everyone’s favorite place, I try to make every appointment fun and relaxing!
Training & Professional Background
Originally from Michigan, I earned my DDS degree at the University of North Carolina, where I
was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) and received the American College of
Prosthodontists (ACP) Undergraduate Prosthodontics Award—recognitions that reflect both academic
excellence and an early passion for advanced restorative dentistry.
I went on to complete my prosthodontics residency at Texas A&M in Dallas, where I was formally
recognized by faculty for demonstrating compassionate care and didactic, research, and clinical
excellence with the Robert S. Staffanou Memorial Prosthodontics award. Throughout this specialty
training, I gained extensive experience in complex multidisciplinary care, including cases
involving orthodontics, surgical planning, and a wide range of implant and prosthetic solutions.
Today, I continue to provide comprehensive prosthodontic treatment with a focus on implant
prosthodontics, digital workflows, and collaborative treatment planning with other specialists.
I enjoy working with all types of prostheses—ranging from single-tooth restorations to full-arch
implant reconstructions—and in guiding patients through treatment paths that prioritize
function, esthetics, predictability, and long-term comfort.
Teaching, Mentoring & Professional Involvement
In addition to my work in private practice, I serve as an adjunct faculty member at the UNC-CH, where I mentor dental students and support their growth in prosthodontic skills and clinical reasoning. I am an active member of the American College of Prosthodontists and the Academy of Osseointegration as part of my commitment to continued learning, peer collaboration, and maintaining the highest standards in implant and reconstructive dentistry.
Approach to Patient Care
My patient care approach begins with listening and taking the time to understand your goals, concerns, and expectations. I believe complex care requires a collaborative approach, with you as the most important part of the team. I value your input and involvement at each step in the process to ensure effective and long-lasting results. I strive to provide gentle, meticulous, and thoughtful treatment that helps patients feel at ease and confident in their path forward.
Life Outside the Office
I live in Apex with my husband and our golden doodle, Ginny. Outside the clinic, I enjoy hiking,
snowboarding, traveling, and board game nights. When I’m not curled up with my next favorite
book, I’m typically cheering on my favorite sports teams — the Detroit Lions, Red Wings, or
Michigan Wolverines.
I look forward to working with you!
